COUNCIL OF ACADEMIC STAFF UNIONS OF OSUN STATE-OWNED TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS (CASUOSTI)
The Congresses of ASUP (Esa-Oke & Iree) and COEASU (Ila & Ilesa) concurrently resolved to resume the industrial action suspended in December, 2018. This decision was reached arising from a 2-day Congresses held between July 1st & 2nd, 2019.
The industrial dispute becomes inevitable after hopes were dashed and capabilities to endure exhausted over the following issues:
Injurious Implementation of Contributory Pension Scheme, Government has breached her own laws on the Scheme at our own detriment.
Breach of 65 Years Retirement Age, law passed by the State of Osun House of Assembly and assented to by Mr Governor on July 21st, 2014 is injuriously implemented at the point of exit.
Non Payment/Release of 30 Months Half Salaries & Deductions ( Bank Loans & Cooperative Repayments & Union Check off Dues), non-release of this monies has inflicted untold hardship on our members.
Nonpayment of Financial Effects of 2014 to 2018 Promotion Exercises
Under-staffing of Institutions, our institutions are grossly understaffed. The last recruitment exercise in Osun State-Owned tertiary institutions was in 2005.
Osun Health Insurance Scheme, we reject the OHIS as proposed on the ground of mistrust of Government commitment and sincerity as shown in the case of Contributory Pension Scheme.
Our Congresses expected this total indefinite industrial action to resume IMMEDIATELY. However, in further demonstration of our openness to dialogue, we have resolved that the strike action shall start on Wednesday, 10th July, 2019.
