US to halt WHO funding, UN reacted ‘not the time’

The United State President, Donald Trump to halt World Health Organization, WHO funding. He said this during a White House press conference.

This came, according to him, due to the failure on the part of WHO in being up to the task of responding effectively to the coronavirus outbreak.  “WHO had failed in its basic duty”, Trump.

Donald Trump is equally holding United Nations, UN, responsible for the mismanagement and covering up of coronavirus since it had been reported in china.

“I am directing my administration to halt funding while a review is conducted to assess the World Health Organization’s role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus,” White House news conference.

“The WHO failed in its basic duty and it must be held accountable,” he added.

According to a BBC report, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, reacted to Mr. Trump’s decision and said now was “not the time” to be cutting resources for the WHO.

The US is the WHO’s biggest single funder, providing $400m (£316m) last year – just under 15% of its total budget.
