Obasanjo Reveals Why He Won’t Speak on Feb. 23rd Presidential Election

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has revealed, during a book launching by Abdullahi Shehu, titled ”Election in Nigeria: The Long Road To Democracy.” on Tuesday at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre Abuja why he won’t speak on the 2019 Presidential election.

Obasanjo was in support of the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar in the election which was eventually won by the ruling party for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari of All Progressive Congress, APC with 3,928,869 votes.

At present, Mr Atiku is in court to claim his mandate as he and his party have said that the election was nothing but a “farce” as described in the speech of Obasanjo during the launching.

The Court of Appeal has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow Atiku Abubakar and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have access to all certified copies of the materials used in conducting the 2019 presidential election.

The likes of Yakubu Gowon, former Head of State, Femi Falana, Human Right Activist, Chido Onumah, Author of ‘We Are All Biafrans among others were present in the event.

”I will not dabble into the details of what I call current aspect of Prof Shehu’s book because since the emphasis was on the national election, particularly the presidential election, and the presidential election is now taken to court,” Mr Obasanjo said.

”I think talking about it would become subjunctive, because it has been taken to court,” he added.
