Curvy women as tourism ‘product’ in Uganda- Minister of Tourism

Uganda’s State Minister for Tourism, Kiwanda Godfrey, on Tuesday, added to the list of tourism product to attract tourists. He called it curvy and sexy Ugandan. He is of the opinion that such will promote tourism in the country.

According to him, “We have naturally endowed nice looking women that are amazing to look at. Why don’t we use these people as a strategy to promote our tourism industry?”

“If you see a Munyankole woman with curves, there is a story behind that…Our beauty is not about slimy girls only.”

Many women in Uganda have started reacting to the new development of the introduction of Miss Curvy Uganda contest.

Primrose Murungi, an Uganda woman started a petition to have the Miss Curvy Uganda contest cancelled.

The petition read in part: “I personally feel attacked. This is degrading of women. In a country where women are grabbed by men while walking on the streets and now they have legalised it by making them tourist attractions is not fair,”
