New Chief Justice of Nigeria sworn-in by President Muhammadu Buhari

The President Muhammadu Buhari has sworn-in Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed as the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

The just suspended CJN Walter Onnogeh is facing trial on non-declaration of some of his assets. Justice Ibrahim has just been sworn-in to make the office occupied for necessary responsibilities to continue as expected.

Justice Muhammad is 65 year old, from Bauchi State, and heis the most senior justice of Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Justice Ibrahim Tanko attended Government School, Azare and graduated in 1973 with West Africa School Certificate. He proceeded to bag his bachelor’s degree in Law in 1980 at the Ahmadu Bello University. He studied further to bag his Master and Doctorate (Ph. D) degrees from the same Ahmadu Bello University in 1984 and 1998 respectively.
